So you've submitted an application or appeal for Singapore Permanent Residence (PR) and finally received an approval letter. Now, what should you do? Read on for a guide on the steps to follow after receiving the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter.

What is an In-Principle Approval Letter? All successful applicants for Singapore PR will receive an In-Principle Approval letter. This document outlines the important steps to complete the PR formalities. It's important to note that the IPA letter is valid for two months from the date of issuance, so it's necessary to complete the required processes before it expires.

Four Main Steps to Fulfil Requirements and Conditions:

  1. Medical Examination: One of the requirements is to undergo a comprehensive medical check-up at your chosen medical clinic. When visiting the clinic, you need to present two documents: the IPA letter and the medical form provided in the IPA package. The medical certificate typically takes one to two weeks to be released, so it's advisable to confirm the timeline with the clinic.

  2. Health Insurance: As a Singapore PR, you are entitled to MediShield Life, a basic national health insurance plan administered by the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board. This insurance helps cover large hospital bills and selected outpatient treatment costs.

  3. Mandatory Verification Documents: As part of the verification process, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) includes a checklist of documents that you originally submitted with your Singapore PR application. Make sure to have these documents ready before your scheduled appointment with an ICA officer.

  4. ICA Appointment: Once you have completed the requirements, such as the medical check-up, insurance application, and verification documents, the next step is to book an in-person appointment with the ICA. During this appointment, the ICA will take approximately one hour to confirm all your verification details.

What's Next After PR Verification? After the verification process, you will receive the following on the same day:

  • A temporary identity receipt

  • A collection slip for the Singapore identity card

  • An entry permit

  • A Re-entry permit (REP)

  • The Singapore History brochure

In conclusion, completing this final step in your Singapore PR process is crucial. Just like the previous application process, failure to meet the requirements and conditions may jeopardise your chances of PR approval.

Ensure that you fulfil the above-mentioned steps to realize your Singaporean dream. If you need assistance with complying with the IPA Letter requirements, feel free to reach out to us!
